Sam and Mrs. Sam

Sam started with a few hopper pans, a gas burner, and a food truck. Word got around fast. Within months, regulars were driving from across Melbourne to sit outside at the Cranbourne truck on a Thursday evening.

Sri Lankan food is personal for Sam's family, and that shows in everything they cook. Chef Sam ensures every guest leaves well fed. Mrs. Sam ensures every guest feels welcome.

Our Story

Sri Lankan food, explained simply

Sri Lankan cooking is all about bold spices, fermented rice crepes called hoppers, and a style of stir-fry called kottu that the whole street can smell from a block away.

What We're Known For

A few of the dishes guests come back for every week. The full menu changes, but these are the regulars.

Egg Hoppers

Crispy, bowl-shaped rice crepes with a soft egg in the centre, served with chilli sambal.

Smash Burger

A double beef smash patty stacked with melted cheese, bacon and the works on a brioche bun.

Chicken Burger

Golden fried chicken on a brioche bun with chips, done right every time.

Chicken Kottu

Roti chopped on a flat grill with chicken, egg, spices and a sizzle you hear before you see it.

Fried Prawns

Crispy golden prawns, simply seasoned, ready for the table in minutes.

Hoppers (Cheese)

The classic hopper finished with melted cheese for those who like their Sri Lankan food with a twist.

Devilled Chicken Fried Rice

Wok-fried rice with fiery devilled chicken, capsicum and a kick that builds slowly.

Plain Hoppers

Thin, lacy and crisp at the edges, soft in the centre, made to pull apart and dip.

Devilled Chicken

Bold, saucy, spiced to order, and the reason half the truck's regulars first showed up.

Seafood String Hopper Kottu

String hoppers chopped through crab curry and seafood, a dish that earns its reputation.

Nasi Goreng

Indonesian-style fried rice with bold seasoning, a fried egg on top and crunchy vegetables throughout.

Catering

Bring the whole truck to your event, from backyard parties to corporate functions.
