Chef Sam at the food truck, Cranbourne

The People Behindthe Truck

A family-run food truck serving Sri Lankan food the way it should taste.

Sam & Mrs. Sam, owner of Sam's house of yum

Cooked with care, served with warmth

Sam started with a few hopper pans at a Cranbourne market stall. The queue grew, the truck followed. Today Sam's house of yum is a Thursday and Friday fixture for locals and for Sri Lankan food lovers who drive from across Melbourne for a plate they can't get anywhere else.

Every dish is cooked fresh to order. The hoppers are made on cast iron pans, the kottu chopped on a flat grill. Sri Lankan cooking takes time, and Chef Sam gives it that time every service.

Authentic Sri Lankan flavours, best hoppers and kottu in Melbourne

Best kottu by a long way. Gives you the same feeling as being back in Sri Lanka.
